“Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.”

Ed Slater

Edward John Slater, loving husband and father of Coronado, CA, formerly of Albuquerque, NM and Guymon, OK passed away peacefully among family members at home on December 28th, 2008. He was 83. Ed lived life to the fullest and above all enjoyed his family and friends. He also received great joy helping others less fortunate by volunteering his time and efforts to a number of organizations dedicated to such causes. As a devout Christian, Ed was active in church organizations everywhere he and his wife of 56 years, Jere, were. As a US Navy WWII veteran, lifelong Rotarian, avid snow skier, photographer, United Methodist lay witness volunteer, school board member, Red Cross blood drive chairman, and Meals on Wheels volunteer, Ed always found time for family. Having a 35 year career in journalism, Ed was involved in radio, newspaper as well as television. If you wanted to know what was going on Ed was the man to talk to. Ed’s zest for life, wonderful laughter and encouraging heart will be missed by all who knew him
